Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer, and dancer. Early Broadway roles include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The role she played on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director as well as actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film will be released in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at control of the production. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the crisis in America that picked up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in over one century. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the CBS popular comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
